Took our new van for its forst run over the weekend and when showering we had a mini flood on the bathroom floor. After investigating and sticking my hands in the hatch under the sink it appears that it is coming from the actual inlet mechanism.

Has anyone experience of this, am I correct in assuming that if I unscrew the inbuilt soap tray on the back wall that this is an access hatch?

I would take the van back but we are off for 2 weeks a week on sunday so the chances of it being done before then are slim!

Many thanks,

Ian

Hi Ian,

I am slightly confused about your leak point. You are correct, if you remove the soap dish holder, this will give you access to the rear of the shower tap, but not to the connections of the shower tap, which are located under the sink unit.

However, if the leak is from the sink tap, then you need to check the "T" connections directly below the sink, as this is where the "T" from the main inlet splits between the shower and sink tap.

Ash,

Thanks for the reply. Upon further investigation it is the actual mixer unit that is leaking, on the underside above where the pipes connect.

Looking at it I think it requires a new unit, as there are no obvious parts to replace. I am now in a dilemma, I am going to call my dealer (not local as we had to travel to get the van we wanted) in the morning and see if they will authorise a local dealer to fit a new unit under the warranty. In any case it has to be sorted in the next 9 working days as we are going away to a CL with no toilets!!

Cheers,

Ian

Hi Ian,

It might sound obvious, but the water pipes "tails" for the mixer tap are screw fit connections into the mixer unit. Are you sure the leak is not because they have worked loose and just need tightening up?

You should see a long spindle on the mixer, with a nut, which can be removed, and the entire mixer withdrawn from the sink, to get easier access to the mixer, and get a spanner on the tails.

Ash,

I have removed the mixer unit already and I thought it would be the pipe fittings. It is on the underside of the mixer unit the water is coming out, there is a flat area in the shape of a triangle and where this meets the pipe fittings the water is coming out of there, practically in the middle of the underside of the unit.

The other way I know it is not the pipe fittings is that the water is at the temperature set by the mixer - it is not cold and or hot, as it would be if it were coming from one or other of the taps.

Cheers,

Ian

Ian, Take the red & blue cap off the top of the tap. You will see a small allen screw undo this and the head of the tap comes off, take this off in the central position so you can replace in the same position later. You can now see a large brass nut that you need to tighten, had the same problem with my tap and this cured it. If you strip the tap completely at the bottm you will see three plastic seels which flatten but your dealer will not sell these, he will want to sell a new tap for about 80 quid. J.Lo

J. Lo,

Thanks for that, I have a new tap coming under the dealer warranty - should be with me today. I will defo have a look at the old one and see if I can cure it, if so I will keep it as a back up, just incase.

At least we can go and have a dry (in the van anyway) holiday now!!!
