Hi all, just got back from a wonderful 1st weekend away in our new Conqueror 630!

All went very well and everything worked well, with no problems.

Is it just me, not being very technically minded, or is the TV/Radio/DVD player, complicated to work out? i found the booklet very difficult to understand, tuning the TV and radio was very hit and miss, are the antenna on the status aerial supposed to extend when the radio is in use? Do the 'free view' TV channels automatically tune in with the terrestrial channels?

Any suggestions appreciated.

Kind regards, Andrew & Sally.

No its not just you we thought the instructions were unclear as well. You need the settings on DVB to tune in freeview and digital radio, it does give an auto tune option though. We have always managed to tune the radio without extending antennas on the status aerial. Analogue tv is tuned in seperately when the system is set in the TV mode.

The chrome antennas on the side of the directional Status 530 areial are nothing to do with the radio but are for receiving VHF television stations. Most Swift vans are fitted with a dedicated telescopic radio aerial which has it's own 12V 'booster'.

Hi Andrew and Sally,

Sorry, no advice about the TV.

But glad to hear everything else went well.

I do not collect my 630 until the end of May. Am most looking forward it! Just a couple of things - how did you get on with the high altitude Microwave? and How good is the shower? And if its not too cheeky - what are you towing with?

If you have a mo to reply that would be great!

Hi BJ, the microwave is no trouble at all, we didn't use the shower, as we were on a cc site, we used the facilities.

we tow with a 55 plate sorento, which does the job wonderfully!

The Alde central heating is WONDERFUL!!, all in all, we are over the moon with her!

hope this helps, Andrew.

Hi Fellow 630 ers

We have just collected a new 630 and agree that the TV instructions are very confusing and complicated.

The shower is excellent but the positioning of the water controls under the very front left seat are awkward compared to our last 655 Conqueror.

The annoying bit is possibly having to spend

Hi John

Overall not too bad an mpg although I thought you maight be in the low 20s.

Most of the Sorrie owners on our Sorento web site use Taff's Powerbox , a chip with a slight difference.

See "uksorento.com" for full powerbox details and honest mpg on autos.

Mine is a manual and does 32 solo overall and towing on motorways at 55mph I get 27-28mpg. However where towing on single hilly roads it drops to 24mpg and that's towing a Bailey Senator Wyoming. I am light on the gas pedal and suspect if I thrashed her tyhe mpg will be worse still. Overall most Sorrie owners are happy but most of us have never achieved the manufacturers stated figures. Yes , I know they are almost laboratory based figures. Why can't they just give us an honest figure in the real time world.

Enjoy your new baby.

Cheers

Alan

Hi Alan

Thanks for the info on the Sorrento.

We are off to Tintagel at the weekend so will have a better idea of the 630, so far we are very pleased with it. It was a toss up between it and a Wyoming, we had a 2005 Wyoming which we really liked but changed for the 655 with twin single beds which we didnt get on with. So now we are back to the Wyoming layout in the Conqueror 630!

Regards John
