What you describe can be found on the larger sites in Devon or Cornwall - English guaranteed. It's great fun getting along with life abroad - this year my daughters made friends with other teenagers from Belgium, Germany, France and Holland. Communication was not easy, but they really enjoyed trying.

France is a big place, and any large site will probably have what you want in terms of facilities like football and discos. But the presence of English people cannot be guaranteed.

(PS Would you be happy with Welsh, Scottish or Irish? There are plenty of them around in France too).

Some of my favourite sites had very few Brits around. Nothing against them, I just like to have different experiences on holiday.

If you want a French campsite, but with loads of other English, then get the Eurocamp, Canvas Holidays, and Keycamp and any other 'tour operators' (Thompson now offer campsites) brochures, and choose a site which features in most of them. This way you're likely to be at a site with other English families. You can choose your site - and then if you're taking a Caravan, book directly, or through the Caravan Club, or Caravan and Camping Club. Alan Rogers also offers a booking service. Sometimes the clubs can be cheaper, particularly if you book an 'independent' package, ie just ferry and site, rather than their all-in service, with maps, guides, etc. If you want a mobile, then it's always worth checking with the site to see if they offer their own mobiles, as sometimes this can be cheaper than booking through a tour operator.

You may find that your teenagers prefer other nationalities when they get there! The 'exotic' often attracts. I know both my boys made friends with girls from Holland, France and Germany when they used to come with us!

Ginger Pete,

I would agree with Val, if you want a French site with something for teenagers & where English is spoken, use Eurocamp, have a look at the site you fancy on their web site, then look on their sister company's web site Eurocamp independant, to see if the site is also a touring one.

If it is, try and see if the site has it's own web site (you'll have to do a webb search for this) & then book the site & ferry yourself, you'll save yourself a fortune.

example. this years holiday at La Garangeiore in the Vendee, if i booked through Eurocamp Independant

camping les sablonnes at portiragne le plage. perfect for teenagers, dozens of which return next year. great web site. the site books up very quickly though. the brits tenagers love it. it is a long way from england though. it is safe because it has its own on site disco area on site with nowhere to drift away from. we liked it as we did not detect any of the usual dutch drugs scene that can occur on some sites. security is very tight - lovely for nervous parents.
