Having left our CL in Beer, Devon, on Sat 19th Sept after a wonderful fortnight, and travelled up to the M5 to head North to the Market Harborough area, we decided to pull in at Sedgemoor Services to take a well earned break. I had noticed people pointing and nodding at us and wasn't aware until I had stopped, unable to find a space to park, and was approached by a fellow caravanner that we had been towing with one of our Heki vents open- (Wife did not check that it was locked down!)Good job it was not raining- right above the fixed bed! But that was just the start of our problems! The next helpful soul pointed out that fluid of some kind was leaking from the engine compartment! A fuel leak- split pipe! B**ger! The next problem was to find somewhere I could attend to these setbacks and expecting to find a way out at the end of the carpark I took my tandem axle van to the end- NO WAY OUT! A U turn was needed! The caravan parking was rammed and I mean RAMMED! Of course, the caravan fraternity helped with guidance and even offered to help unhitch and swing the van around. Fortunately, experience and JUST enough room allowed me to get around and head back out of the caravan park. I headed for the HGV park where I found relative peace and tranquility to repair the faults. The Heki was undamaged and locked into position ( wife was taken to task for it) The fuel pipe was repaired and all was well. SO,if anyone is a caravanner and works at Sedgemoor- tell your management that the caravan Parking facilities are crap! The person who designed it has never towed I bet! BUT I would just like to thank, through the forum all the kind people who came to my assistance on that rather fraught day! Thats why we caravan - because you lot are just the best people when we are in trouble and we know that there is always a helping hand THANK YOU!

Merve,

Nice to see it isn't just me that blames the wife - you were lucky to get away with that !

I take it she is unlikely to read this post ???

Remember I have met the charming lady and can't imagine her making that kind of mistake !

Robbie would have found a way to make sure that even if she was supposed to have checked it out, it would be my fault because I distracted her, or didn't make it clear etc etc.

Stay lucky

Jon

Try the services at Peterborough on the A1M. If you have a 12ft van towed by a mini you are OK. we have a 26 ft van and when parked take 2 spaces and have problems getting out.
