Does anyone have a tip for that annoying gap at the bottom of the roller blinds that allows light in? I like the dark and find it really annoying. Is it just me? Any suggestions gratefully accepted!

I recall this problem only too well where basically when you are lying in bed, when you wake up you end up looking right up into the gap. I found it helped to pull down the mosquito blind first as the bottom of this protruded farther than the blind thus filling up quite a bit of the gap. As our latest van has a Cassette type blind system where the blind is pulled up from the bottom there is now no problem.

A length of foam pipe insulation, the type that already has a length ways cut in it. Slip this over the bottom of the blind.

Hi we have two young children and the first sign of daylight there awake.

I went to a diy shop and bought a lenghth of foam pipe insulation, you can get it in different thickneses.

I pulled the blind down cut it to length and just push it on end of blind. it gives quiet a good seal.

Hope this helps

Our two also wake up at the crack of dawn thanks to the gap at the bottom of the blinds, so I roll up an old small towel and place this between the window and the fly screen.

It does block the light but I like the idea of the the foam pipe insulation so may have a try of that when we are next away.

Hi,

We to have a youngster who likes to wake early. We also use the foam installation and over time have come up with this idea. I have cut the pipe to length and shape and place 4 bits on the edge of the window sill and then bring the net blind down. This holds these bits in place. We also then clip another lot on the bottom of the black out blind and this creates quite a good seal. I have used the 22mm size pipe installation on the window sill and 15mm size on the black out blind. However the little man still like to rise early, so as soon as he could read numbers I installed a digital clock and he knows not to get out of bed until at least 06.00. However it doesn't always work as it was 05.28 this morning! It also helps to either park the car close to his window or park away from the sunrise if possible to shield the window.
