The fire smells!

I have a 1998 Swift with the carver fanmaster & gas fire (sorry cant remember the axact model of the fire).

Because we are on electric hook-ups most of the time we usually only ever use the electric blow air heating. On the odd occasion we do want to run the gas heater it really smells of burning dust etc. I assume this is just dust that collects on the outer surface of the heat exchanger during the year. My question is, is it easy to remove the front of the fire & clean the dust of the exchanger?

Cheers,

Glenn

Yes it will be dust burning and generally it takes an hour or so to burn away

All Carver fire fronts pull off clips at the bottom and then lift up over the gas control rod to remove.

Some with manual piezo ignition or perhaps later mk2 Fanmasters have wiring connection to the fronts, care must be taken so as not to damage these connections when removing
