IMO cleaning the roof. Hadn't done mine for two years . Filthy dirty . Took all morning but still needs a wax.

Couldn't you park the van closer to the house and then clean its roof from the bedroom window from where you took the photo?? ;)

Agreed Dusty, I'm looking at getting a platform to do mine, my steps look remarkably like yours.,and I'm getting a bit wary of balancing on one leg to reach as far as I can without moving the steps, (the old knees don't like it you know!) Just got to find the right platform then it'll improve the job. (Might even get some help to do it? ---- No chance!) Unfortunately I'm like you in one respect in that i can see the top everyday from our bedroom window, but just one consolation, -- other caravanners can't, so there's no embarrassment there! (ps - pity they stopped 'bob a job' week!)

I use one of those collapsible ladders & use some of the blue square jigsaw mats from Aldi to kneel on the roof when polishing it .... but to just wash it I bought one of the 3mtr extending wash brushes and fitted it with the Sproket patented fancy swivel hose pipe connector fastened on :p  from my very similar step ladders ....
With the 3mtr brush i can do it all from one side of the van ;)

I give the roof a good spray of diluted Fenwicks from a pound shop spray bottle and, like Sprocket, I use my hose brush to clean the roof.
I recently bought a new extendable hose brush complete with squeegee for £10 when we visited Barmouth market when we went to North Wales recently.
My old brush had started to fall to bits and the replacement does the bedroom windows at home as well as the caravan roof.
b.t.w. I bought some waterless wash & wax @ £2.70 from Aldi today Sprocket :cheer:

The dirt was well encrusted . The only thing that moved it was Fenwicks and elbow grease. I've always worried about walking over the roof , even with a duck board.

Snowfoam would have moved that with ease ;)
I use it through a Gilmour Foam gun, to foam the roof then put the brush on to agitate and rinse it clean ...

When hooked up to a water hose, this sprayer dilutes the chemical cleaning solution before passing it into a foam-generating wand. The thick foam it produces then clings to equipment, loosening stubborn dirt and grime. ;)

Our Caravan gets a wash each year including the Roof it looks like new still before we put the Winter cover on and take off at the Begining next Season .
I would get on with it you only got it half done

I hate skipping it out after we've had a holiday in it. Especially the loo!! At one point, when Sir Fixalot was sorting out the damp, the loo was removable, so it went up the garden and got a hose down, then a good clean and air! now it's back in situ, I have to get up close and personal - thank goodness for the 'prime directive'...Woosies know what that is!!

You go on your roof? Are they safe/designed for that?

Jules,
It all depends how the roof is made and who manufactured your model of caravan, some you can go on some you can't my van roof has a vertical rating of 100kg.

Check the technical specification of your van or e-mail the manufacturer if you are considering going up on yours, better to be safe than sorry ;) .

Cleaning and re-greasing the corner steadies takes some beating as the worst task. As for cleaning the roof, I stand on the top of a step ladder with a mop bucket and mop, easy!

One of the benefits of keeping ours in storage is the purpose built gantry, steps front and back longer than a TA park either side, 2 full length hoses. As ours is outside storage I often clean the roof a couple of times a year so the setup we have makes the job easy.
