Hi,

Had the van home for a few days before going away at the weekend only to find the fridge isn't working on mains. Didn't worry us too much as the cl we were off to had no hook up anyway, however not got time to take van in to be looked at before half term when we do have hook up so don't really want to have to run it on gas. Then I'm going to be out of action on return for 6 weeks so any ideas for me to have a fiddle this week so I don't have to wait too long before getting fixed?? Last van had problems with the fridge and ended up having to have a replacement!!

Hi Martin, something similar happened to me and I found that the mains socket to the fridge was located in the cupboard on the flloor!!
So as we put a few items in the said cupboard it knocked the switch and switched the fridge off.
Hope yours is as simple as this. worth looking at.
Good Luck

Martin
Our previous Pageant Vendee , like GagaKev's m had the mains socket and plug at the back of the adjacent cupboard, SWMBO stocks of coke gradually pulled the plug out. QED.
Daft question but you have switched to mains, and turned up the thermostat? Check the fuses too otherwise I feel a dealer visit is on the way.

No plug all wired neatly in with an on/off switch and fuse fine. What I can't understand is there is no code flashing up at me and looks like it should be working!! switched on again just to make sure I'm not going mad and will check again in the morning before phoning my caravan chap.

Have a look here how they work .......
Absorption Fridges problems

Another cause of poor performance is operating the fridge when it is not level. If you stand in front of the fridge it's most sensitive to tilt from left to right. It is also sensitive from back to front but not so much.
Pre 1986 Electrolux fridges have a tilt tolerance of only plus or minus 3 degrees,

later ones are much better at plus or minus 6 degrees.
At these latter angles a caravan would be uncomfortable to live in so in practice you needn't worry about your fridge being level if you have a 1986 or later model.
