Hi all when i was away this week i noticed my thetford full light wasn't working. So I didn't know when the holding tank was full (not very nice) Has the indicator failed and i need to buy a new one, or have i just knocked it and not illuminating?

I suspect the 'full' light is activated by a float arm inside the holding tank, as is the red/green indicator on th emanual version. You should be able to test this by removing the holding tank, looking inside the housing and finding a small arm holding a small cylinderical magnet. Move this back and forwards while having some one watch the indicator lamp. If this works OK thenthe fault will be with the 'sender' in the holding tank itself. If not, then check out fuse and light itself.

The sender in the tank is a float arm also holding a magnet. If you have cleaned out the tank very vigoursly then it is possile that the 'float' part has become detached and possibly flushed away. Look at the thetford website - from memory www.thetford.com and you will find service instructions, although re-fitting a float arm inside the tank is none too easy.

Hi Abbey Owner this seems to crop up often now what I suggest you do is open the slide on cassette look carefully inside at the rear of it you will see a small float just inside like the sort of thing in a toilet sysytern you wont see any magnet but what you may well find is loo roll wrapped round it.This suggests that the chemicals in the casssette may not be strong enough or you could be using a loo roll that the chemicals cant mulch down. Also if you have ladies using the caravan loo do not let them use toilet wipes as this do not in anyway desolve. Had this time and time again but I think her indoors has got the hang of it now . I hope this helps .

Abbey Owner Once you have made sure the float is free replace cassette and fill with water from the inside of caravan and see if the light will come on.

Have you checked the batteries as some of the cassettes require batteries to operate the light. Batteries are inside the compartment.

Don't ever rely on ours as its just as easy to peer inside when you use it. After all you need to open the valve as a bloke and see where your aiming. Just something else to go wrong.

As you look in the cassette door, on the left hand side is a small plastic box. This contails the reed switch that picks up the signal from the float magnet in the cassette.Pass a fridge magnet close to the box while someone checks the led inside the van. If the light comes on then your fault will be inside the cassette.

Will probably try that, other options haven't worked even when the cassete is full of water no light has come on.
