Thought this caravanning lark was supposed to be a Relaxing, Stressfree, Healthy pastime.
Well I beg to differ, every time you go away something always happens, does'nt it ? (or is it just me)
Recent problems include, losing a wheel trim, unhitching problems, squeaky wheelbearing, charger finally gave up
and to top it all off was packing up yesterday, went to empty the loo casette and guess what, I DID MY BACK IN !!!!!
Now I'm hobbling around like Quasimodo

Oh well, time to plan alternatives.

Now which sites will I visit next year

Aww Kev, it's all part of the fun.....just think what a boring time you'd have had otherwise! I dunno, what you'll do to get out of massaging your poor son's bum.........or is it the thought of the massage oil in your wife's hands that did your back in? (now where's that sniggering icon again?) Tee hee

In 26 years of caravanning I've
gone off and left my front door wide open, gone off without hitching up
smiley-embarassed.gif
, arrived with a rooflight missing, broken my arm, left a French dual carriageway to find there was a barrier that the 'van wouldn't go under and had to reverse back around a bend uphill onto the main road, had to take my son to hospital to get a fishing hook removed from his leg, had a blow out late at night on the A30 on a bend in the road with no hard shoulder, had a tyre delaminate doing about 65 on a French autoroute, had my clutch burn out in a 2km traffic jam up a steep hill in the Pyrenees, grounded the rear of the hitch getting off a ferry and bent the towing bracket, had a big sheet of polystyrene insulation blow out of an overtaking truck and crack the big front window of my brand new 'van the first time we'd taken it out, etc, etc.

We went to Madeira for our 30th wedding anniversary 2 years ago. Stayed in a great hotel, great food, great service. Bored stiff.

Couldn't wait to get back to the freedom the 'van offers

SSDD then Gagakev!!
I did the same Monday. Just bent down to put the chemical in the cassette and that was it! My back went west. I had to go to the docs as I'm waiting on an operation for a compressed disc that is catching the spinbal colum. I've been told to get checked everytime I get back trouble as they are realy worried. All I got was another load of pils to take. That makes it over 20 pils a day, but I wouldn't give up caravanning for all the tea in china.

You can't beat the peace and tranquility of being the only van on site at this time of year.

Atb Steve L.

Hi Kev .
I dont think I d like to give it up somehow, you see sadly March of this year I lost my job and have now become somewhat of a house husband .
Thankfully Her Ladyship runs her own small business from home that keeps us afloat.
Now I have got the hang of using the vacuum cleaner and the polish and duster, now the thing that baffles me most is the white machine you put clothes into.
You see I have a love hate relationship with it I hate it and it hates me, now this is the where her Ladyship exercises her jaw which is now the time to insert ear defenders cos Im sure the permitted level of noise is 90 decibells sadly she is somewhat over that so it starts I slope off to the caravan in storage about three miles from home and guess what......
I cant hear from there so Lay down and have a kip for an hour and when I get back the washing is done and her Ladyship refuses to talk to me so I get piece and quiet at home as well.
Dont you just love it
Sir Roger

I used to keep the caravan on my drive and put it on the road outside with the car parked in front to load it up. I weighed the hitch but didn't connect it onto the towbar. Made a few adjustments and put a few more items in the back of the car. Got distracted. We all jumped in and off we went ......... only about 5 feet.

Could happen to anyone

gagakev,
With the arrival my twins I had sold my boat, was looking forward not to having to carry half a spare engine, tool kit selection of pipes, nuts bolts screws and the list goes on, 12 moths later I bought a twin axle caravan, looking forward to a maintainance free hobby, off our lass the twins and I went, with in 3 moths I had a full caravan tool box complete with pipes, nuts bolts wire glue gaffer tape, just finished our 3rd season, the list up today are hot water pipes leaking, mcb fuse falty, rear two wheels brake shoes sticking on, seal going on the water heater whilst in cornwall, sliding doors falling off, verious hinges and catches droppimg off, and not least our lass cleaning the windows with a washing up sponge and using the nylon side, I thought we was back on the boat as the square windows were now round. My father says I am always in s--t I agree its only the depth that we disagree on !
there always a solution its just a cup of tea away,

Ah Kevin.
Glad you have replied.
I am nearly there now but Ive had a bit of a set back , had to got to hospital for a hernia op so Im afraid that white machine has had to take a back seat.
I feel quite sure it will still be there when Ive fully recovered from the op
What I will say is the pain from the op is less painful than the noise from her indoors
Hows the back coming on, Im probably lucky here as the pain killers for the op have settled my back down for a while.
Take care
Sr Roger

Sir Roger, just leave the white thing alone, it is obvious it's causing you severe health problems. Must be the weight of the OH laundry in the basket!!!!

Hope you are now well on the way to recovery and able to escape soon back to the van for a deserved rest.
My back problem seems to be behind me now

Walking upright, no pills, the odd twinge but I can live with that, thanks for asking.
Look after yourself
