Three CLs I am using have recently :
Reduced the overnight charge by £2.00.
Asked you buy a prepaid electricity card, plug in , standard domestic rate, any balance left is refunded.
They are all FSP.
seems a very reasonable approach to me especially as Wifi is still foc.
Any one else seeing changes?

Lots of offers from the CAMH and on visiting sites they have been nowhere near as busy as they should have been so looks like price cuts are due to lack of business.

I have read elsewhere that the high prices are deterring a lot of people. Why pay +£50 a night when you can use a nice commercial site with more facilities and pitches that ARE FSP for a lot less. In June we recently stayed in Weston on a FSP pitch that was dead level and the cost was £28 a night for 2 inclusive. Beach was 5 minutes away and dogs were allowed on the beach! Bonus was that we could drive onto the beach.

C and CC keep sending us promo emails with discount codes. Looked at a 5 night stay on a bog standard C and CC site; hard standing and ehu. With discount code £25 a night. Without discount code £37 a night!! Small Private site, hardstanding fully serviced pitch, including awning ,electricity, dog and Wi-Fi. £27.50 a night same dates In a better location ( walk to pub=better location 😉) No brainer.
Annoyingly if you want the discount on the Cand CC prices, you have to faff about finding and entering a code at the checkout. Another reason to go with the other site-why don’t the C&CC just cut the price automatically?
The clubs are going to have to do a serious overhaul of their pricing structure to compete. Sweeteners like discount codes are not going to cut it.

Does this also hint and reflect that the Covid "Staycation" bubble really has burst?
IMO it was inevitable it would do, just it seemed to linger longer than I thought it would.
However, I expect if you have paid over the odds to acquire a newish motorhome or caravan, its a hard call to dump it. So sites, clubs offering incentives might keep their income running a tad longer.

The reality of a high element of self catering, plus using a plastic loo, and set in good old UK was never going to survive for many families given the option to jet off to warmer climes with the pampering that comes with even a half decent hotel; the more so for the household's decision maker with their precious break from working.

Self catering prices and hotels also went through the roof. It’s noticeable that in that sector reductions are being offered. But some are still charging high per diem rates for shorter breaks 3-4 night , but won’t reduce the PD rate if you enquire for 7 or 14 days for example as customers seem to be prepared to have shorter stays. A farm near to us on the outskirts of Bradford on Avon have removed their glamping pods. Presumably business wasn’t good enough.

PS my wife has already booked her next years stay in Turkey at a good all inclusive price.

Plus of course the British weather does not help Staycation!

Given the temperatures bring experienced in many areas of Europe I think I would rather stay here, or try Scandinavia. Although SA came top destination in last week’s Telegraph travel awards but hasn’t there been odd weather there also.

Yep with snow where it has never snowed before. El Nino strikes again!

Yesterday and today ( torrential rain) and for the next week ( more rain forecast) we should have been on a site with our daughter and her children. Us in our van and her and 3 kids in a large tent on two adjacent pitches. The campsite completely cocked up our booking and 2 weeks ago we discovered it was not going to happen. No point getting uppity; these things happen. Got our deposit back quickly.
However finding a site for us both with pitches next to each other at short notice, with facilities for the children proved very difficult. So we have ended up in a 6 berth static on a large holiday park.
Amazingly this is for pretty much the same money as two pitches on a family site in the school holidays.
Also as I sit here with coats drying on radiators and the raining pounding on the roof. I am thinking that the original site might have done us a favour: a tent would not have been pleasant.

We were booked to be away from Thursday to Sunday, however Saturday afternoon decided we had enough and left a day earlier.

In off season statics are remarkably good value too, some on holiday parks allow access to the swimming pool, etc and others on private land have splendid isolation and views.
