hello

My Tomtom is now three years old and a number of roads both here and abroad have changed since owning it.

Can the SD card be upgraded to include these changes? I am a bit nervous about attempting it myself as I dont want to risk deleting or spoiling the card as it is now.

thanks

Tony

Earlier this year I bought the TomTom map updates because we found a few instances of driving across fields according to the TomTom screen. I downloaded them direct to the satnav and at first was a little apprehensive but there was nothing to worry about. It all went of ok with no trouble at all. The only difference I did notice was the speed camera warning sound and the speed flashing on the screen.

As previously mentioned, just follow the instructions and you'll be ok. You can back up your current map first if you want to be doubly sure. One thing i'll mention though which was a surprise to me but i guess it might not be the same for all models, i've got the 730 and the new map had to go on the memory card as there wasn't enough space on the internal memory.

Tony,

If you go to the Tom Tom web site and download Tom Tom home it will basically talk you through and manage the up grade including asking you if you want to make back ups. I would take this option for peace of mind. This is a good little application as it will also make corrections to the maps (once you are up to date) for things like one way streets etc. that are incorrect in some versions. Tom tom recommend you connect regularly for updates. It will also upgrade the operating system and being 3 years old yours will need that to run the new maps I expect. Another good place for information is http://www.pocketgpsworld.com where you can get help, subscribe to speed camera warnings and download lots of POI's (Points of interest) these are free. The POI's include caravan club sites & CL's plus normal sites can also be downloaded along with a whole host of other stuff. You will find lots of help from that site. Good luck

David
