Hi.We have been to 2 sites on their first opening weekend.Just back and 2 weeks ago.(CC site and a lovely independant one) It was really quiet at both places. Is is too early for some people? We had a sunshine and were very comfortable. I know things will get busier v soon for Easter but it seemed a bit of a shame. (Mind you.I felt it was good having showers all to myself) Ha ha.Lots of space for the kids too.

Also.Has anyone been to the CC site at Rosemarkie? Just wondered about it for later in the year

I was there in 2006 if you mean the C&CC site.

The site is split in two by a small road leading up to the village a couple of hundred yards away where there's a pub which does meals.

The beach is nice and you can walk along it to Chanonry Point where hopefully you might spot the dolphins. Apparently the best time is on an incoming tide.

When we were there the waste water disposal facilities left a lot to be desired. You had to stand and fill your AquaRoll in the same concrete water tray that the grey waste water was emptied in. How it was allowed under H&S I don't know but maybe they've improved that by now. Don't let that put you off though.

We were pitched on grass on the other side of the road away from the beach but it was still only a few yards away. What you have to do to get a beachside pitch I don't know.

Thanks for your advice .It sounds a possibility. The only thing I was put off by was the road but after thinking, maybe not. Have a good summer.

Don't be put off by the road, it's very quiet and narrow. It only leads up to the village and hardly any traffic uses it because there is another more major road. It's more like a lane.

The cars in the pic are parked.

Lord B has given you a very accurate description of Rosemarkie.

The road is no problem and this site is lovely and quiet. We walked to Chanonry Point every day and saw the dolphins and some days they gave a grand performance. As stated the best time to see them is approaching high tide, but you can also watch them bow-waving when the large boats go into the harbour.

forgot to say there is a chip shop in the village and a very good supermarket which are within walking distance from the site. At the end of the bay along from the campsite there is a nice bistro too.
