Having read several posts regarding incorrect wiring found on the 7 pin auxilery/grey plug either preventing the fridge working on 12v or not charging the van battery while towing I wondered if anyone can tell me how to check, as there is no indication on the fridge to tell me its working ok on 12v & I usually charge the battery before & after a trip away & am on EHU so do not actualy know if it's being charged while on the move. last year I had to replace the grey plug on the car & on the van (center pin burnt out) & think some of the teminals on the car side were not wired.

van is a 2005 bailey pagent

Thanks for any reply

the wiring changes were in 1996 so your bailey will be the later type which is confirmed by your centre pin melting. The centre pin in the fridge neg supply or fridge return as its sometimes called. Pre 96 the fridge neg and battery charger used the same pin and there was a pin that was unused so they decided to use the spare pin for the fridge neg (or batery eg can't remember which) The reason the centre pin melts is because being the centre pin the pin that is cut down its length closes up when its wriggles to go in and the connection in then poor, it then sparks as it can have up to 15 amps through it and then theres heat of course. Next time you are at a caravan dealership check the used stock and you wil find about 3 out of ten are melted.
