HELP.

We have just had our 2008 Sorento serviced (1st) and it was noticed that the relay for the tow bar electrics had a melted fuse holder. Service manager at Kia stated that there must have been too much power going through it !!

Is this possible. Surely this should be man enough to run lights and fridge without melting. Are we doing something wrong ? Fridge is set to 12v when travelling.

Can anybody shed some light on this or advise correct set up.

Hi

I reported on this a month or so ago because I had melting fuses in my caravan.

I did some tests and found that the casing started to melt with only drawing 3amps even when the supposed rating was 10/15/20/30 Amps. I reported it to Halfords who supplied boxed sets and they agreed it was a faulty batch and Halfords put out a safety recall in the press and on their web site.

No way really to tell which are the faulty batch, I went to my dealer and bought some German made fuses which were much higher quality and no problem since.

Alan

This is not the fuse in the caravan but the fuse holder on the car which has melted.

It has now been replaced by Kia. Will keep an eye on it and hope we dont get a repeat.
