You'll need to look for a tug with a kerb weight of around 1600kg, to stick within the 85% guidelines recommended by the CC etc. If experienced you can exceed this up to an absolute max of 100% of your car's weight. Try to get a car with self-levelling rear suspension, although most estates are factory fitted with stiffer rear springs to allow for their greater load carrying capacity. Obviously their extra space is great for all the extra caravanning junk you'll inevitably acquire over the years!
Also, check the manufacturer's max towing limit, which can be lower or higher than the car's kerbweight. Some MPV's have very low towing limits, especially early model Zafiras.
Any reputable caravan dealer will do a free match for you, or check out Towsafe - google will find it.
Do not take a car dealer's advice, as very few understand the restrictions about towing, and will say the right thing to get the sale, especially at the mo.
