Just a note to pass on some info for Ulysse drivers!. We have a Fiat Ulysse 04 which is a great car for big family, especially the electric sliding doors. However, we were looking into buying a new caravan and on checking the Fiat brochure towing figures found they were low (1375kg max braked weight) for such a big car. I couldn't believe this so queried it with Fiat. Their internal techincal base faxed back a printout showing the towing weights to be the same as the Citroen C8 and Peugeot 807 (all based on same car) at 1850kg. Thats more like it!

I just started towing with a Peugeot 806.

I am towing an old Adria Supra 470C that weighs about 19cwt.

It seems as stable as a rock. I broke the stabiliser on the campsite in France, and drove back without one at upto indicated 70mph. I think that it is because the rear overhang is so small.

Mine is a 2.0HDI 110bhp. It can just about hold 60mph on the flat in 5th, but that is with ones foot flat to the floor. I bit more torque between 2000 and 3000 rpm would be very useful.

Lastly the rear suspension doesn't seem to need any help. In fact it sufferes less then if the vehicle is fully loaded with people (mine is the 8 seater).

One hassle that I forget to mention...

the wing mirrors on the 806 fold in rather too easily, and don't spring back out either. Anoything over about 45mph with extension mirrors causes the mirror to fold back so that you can't see a damned thing.

I can't find anything on the body to tie a piece of sting either to stop it happening
