Hi Averil, and welcome.
Depends how concerned you are - ie how serious the threat is where you are.
Ideally, I suppose you'd have both?

Welcome to the site!

A Tracker is for getting the van back should some rogue steal it, and will likely reduce your insurance premium too, but an alarm protects it from the more likely scenario of break ins and petty theft.

Several companies specialise in motorhome security and would be well placed to advise - I have dealt with VanBitz in the past and they really know their stuff, offering tracking and alarm systems. Maybe hit the phones and ask one of the specialist security firms what they'd recommend based on your van and what you want to achieve!

Make sure you comply with your insurers requirements. I'd be surprised if they didn't insist on an alarm. Some also insist on a Tracker depending on value. Ask them for the security they insist on and then, as Nigel suggests, speak to security companies to provide any additional security to put your mind at rest. Van Bitz is a good starting point for you.

Thanks for that. I had asked an insurance broker but they were pretty non committal but I'll go back and ask some companies directly and may get a better understanding
