Check with the campsite to see if they have a late arrivals area - no reason why you should not use it for arriving early.

Mevagissey has a car park suitable for coaches etc on the way in but do not attempt to drive into the village.

Alternatively you could try a truck or stop or stop at somewhere like the Jamaica Inn, Eden Project or Trago Mills if you are happy to leave your van while you visit.

Hi. Whatever you do - do not go into Meva with your caravan. You will get stuck! If you go into Eden the car park is a long way from the biomes and you not want to leave it out of sight. I would ring the site I,m sure they will accomodate you - even if your pitch is not ready they may let you park on another for a couple of hours. Don't go into St Austell town centre - there is no where to park and it is like a building site. Lastly Trago Mills is quite a way and it would be out of your way. Hope this helps. Denise

Trago Mills is on the way down if you take the A38 between Exeter and Plymouth but with good timing you would be able to stop for a few hours and still get down to St Austell for noon without encountering too much traffic.

I suggested it because it is en route, you can park an outfit there and there is plenty to kill a few hours with but it is still about 50 miles from St Austell. Same reason as Jamaica Inn which is a bit closer to destination on the A30.

Mevagissey would only be worthwhile if you are at one of the many campsites between St Austell and Mevagissey(B3273), but as said park in the coach/lorry/car park on the way in if you have the van(only a short stroll from the village) - you would only miss this car park by ignoring it deliberately and if towing that would be a serious mistake.

Mevagissey is worth visiting anyway and there is plenty of parking if solo in the harbour area.

Hi Harry.

There is a B & Q on the road to Mevagissey with it's own large car park and adjacent to this is a public car park.

We stopped there for a couple of hours last year on our way to Tregarton Park as we were early.

Across the road is a McDonalds should you want a drink or something to eat.

Martin.

There is an ASDA store on the ring road around St Austell, it is on the main road from Plymouth directionn and about a mile prior to the roundabout where you turn down to Mevagissey (ie the roundabout with McDonalds on the corner).

I have seen caravans and motorhomes stop here before, and I think there is a cafe in there as well. It is certainly one of those stores that is open most of the time.

John.
