Symptom:

  • Loud, high-pitched whine from mover motor/gearbox during operation.

Cause (diagnosed after dismantling):

  • Water ingress into the motor housing.
  • Water pooled around the lower rotor bearing.
  • Resulting rust on the rotor shaft (where it enters the gearbox).
  • The rusted rotor spinning at high speed generated the whining noise.
  • Likely gear oil contamination from water and rust particles.

Fix:

  1. Dismantled motor and integrated gearbox.
  2. Cleaned rotor shaft and removed rust.
  3. Re-assembled — noise returned to normal (whine gone).
  4. Planned replacement of gear oil (to remove contaminated lubricant).
  5. Sealed the motor housing during reassembly to prevent future water ingress.

Outcome:

  • Motor operates quietly again.
  • Preventative sealing should extend lifespan and avoid recurrence.
