I have a Truma Ultraflow system fitted to my Coachman VIP 2007 caravan.
All works fine until I run a tap, either hot or cold. The pump kicks in but does not stop when the tap is closed. I have to switch the pump off at the master board until i need water again.
Have tried adjusting the surge damper to no avail, However another caravanner tried their pump and it worked fine.
Dp I need a new pump or am I mossing something?
Thanks
Dave

hi Dave,
first thing is you cannot adjust the surge damper, it is a verticaly mounted cylindical container attached to the inside of the van wall under the bunk near the water inlet, it is closed at the top and has one pipe connected to the in feed pipe, it is filled with air, when there is a surge like the pump starting, it causes a water hammer effect in the system, the air in the damper compresses and relieves the pressure wave.
what you have adjusted is the pressure regulator switch this sits on the floor near the inlet pipe usually with a yellow knob,
there is a specific sequence for adjusting these, do you know what it is ????, untill this is adjusted properly it difficult to asertain if the pump is faulty, it may run better with a different pump only because the pump pressure may be different, and this affects the pressure regulator switch timings.
for instance I have two pumps one is a Truma, standard pump the other is a high capacity Whale pump, if changing from one pump to the other the pressure switch has to be adjusted, because either the pump continually runs or clicks and does not supply water at the correct volume.
hope this helps.

My guess it is the pump that is going faulty. Prior to ours "failing" it would start motor boating and then after awhile the pump would not switch off, but it wasn't pumping water into the system. A test on 12v showed it to be okay but under load, it would fail. These pumps seem to be having some wonderful and weird faults. We now carry a spare in the caravan.

Have tried everyting now but no improvement. Will Try a new pump.

There was one advertised for sale on Preolved.co.uk. We now carry a spare as we think teh pumps are overpriced rubbish. befroe brushing out and buying a new one, rather buy just the pump part which will be about £12 instead of £53. Other sites may be cheaper than the one I posted.
