Hi

On my ( Hymer Nova 2001 ) I have only got gas heating, we have only been out in it twice due to commitments but,

A friend recently bought a Hymer, and his as got the ultraheat fitted,

Question being would I be able to fit this add on system myself or would it be better to get it fitted ??

I have been reading also about the problems with the thermostat positioning ??

Fitting the Ultraheat is not the problem, the problem is refitting the gas fire after it's installed.

The fire needs to be removed to gain access as the ultraheat is screwed to the heat shield behind the fire, you could then go as far as refitting the fire but at the very least you must have it tested before use.

I might add I have several slightly second hand ultraheats for sale,(and fan units if required), at considerable saving on new and they come complete with remote thermostats!

Hello Sprocket,

I am disappointed that Gary did not advise you fully regarding the removal and refitting of the gas carcass.

Under UK legislation, the installation service, repair and removal of any/all gas appliance must be carried out by a person who is competent and complies with the gas regulations. It is highly unlikely that unless you are a working gas fitter, that you will have the knowledge and the access to the necessary test equipment required under the regulations.

I have to advise you for your safety and the safety of others not to attempt the work unless you are fully competent.

Sorry John I thought I had fully warned Sproket, 'at the very least' surely suggests that's a minimum requirement?

Gordon, contact me direct via my website, www.arcsystem.biz
