Truma Ultraheat stopped working!

I switched on the Truma Ultraheat at 2000W today, there was a loudish click and the fire didn't get hot. The mains has not tripped as the fan on the fire still works as does all the other mains operated appliances, and the circuit breaker is in the ON position. The green light on the control switch does not come on when switched to the 500W, 1000W or 2000W position. Does anybody know what has happened and how it can be fixed?

Hi Tillman, I think it may be a simple case of changing the fuse. If it keeps blowing you will need to have it checked out. Good luck. JTS.

The green light is 12v and this is powered from the ultraheat's own 12v transformer which is on the control board located at the back of the fire.

This means either, no 240v to the control board, the transformer has blown, faulty connection up to the switch or indeed a faulty switch.

Thanks for the reply, which fuse are you talking about? The mains are all circuit breakers and all in the ON position. The only other fuses are the 12V ones and I didn't think they had anything to do with the fire. Are there some other fuses I need to know about?

There is often a fused spur with a switch on it. It may be in the wardrobe or a locker.

It might help if you can see over the back of the fire to see where the mains cable to the fire goes. Generally the Truma supplied one is a strange colour perhaps best described as Terracotta maybe? Least it should be easy to follow to where it's connected and the location of any isolation switch fitted

As SBS and gary have said there is a fused spur, I can't remember where it was on my 2004 Lexon but the wiring diagram says the the feed wire to the fused spur is 3 Core Blue.

There is no seperate isolator on my 2006 Award. There is a white feed from the control panel, about 300mm long, which joins to a brownish wire which goes directly to the heater via an in line plug / socket.

Tillman can you confirm that the MCB is definetly on by trying something else on the same one? it is not unknown for MCB's not to connect when reset and require switching OFF/ON again.

I feel a twit!! The master Ultraheat switch was in the OFF position. We usually leave it in the ON position ('cos it's under the front seating)and operate the fire with the thermostat/control switch. Must have been 'switched off' by the service centre. But that doesn't explain the click I heard when I first attempted to switch on the fire, which never happened again.
