hi guy/girls
well we picked up our first caravan last weekend and have had 2 night in it already
smiley-smile.gif

i worked out the heating and most of the other stuff but im just not to sure on the water boiler.
caravan is a 2006 swift coastline (charisma) 570 fitted with the truma ultrastore boiler
i connect the water up and run all the taps untill theres no air coming through, then switch on the boiler on the main switch box, a few minutes we have hot water (very hot) so happy days.
i asume there is a built in thermostat and can leave the boiler switched all the time.
and also there is a dial switch elsewhere in the van with ultrastore on, how and when would i use the dial switch?

probably silly question but dont want to damage anything, first van an everything

cheers

Hi Josh,
You ar edoing things correctly by filling the water system before switching on the water heater.
When using electric as the power source you can leave the water heater on all the time as it is limited to 70 degrees.

The other control is for the Gas operation of the heater.
You must remove the outside vent cover before using gas or it simply will not light.
Then, the outer ring of the control has two marks, one a dot th eother a flame symbol.
To use gas move the outer ring so that the mark is pointing to the flame, the heater should light, may need a couple of attempts if it has not been used for some time.
The inner dial is a temperature control so that you can select which temperature you have the water at, up to 70 degrees.

Dont forget to switch off the heater before draining it.

Hi, I'm also new to all things caravan and was wondering the same thing ~ from the response am I right in my interpretation that the water heater can be left on at all times whilst using the Electric & also Gas supply?
I was thinking I'd need to turn off whenever not in use to prevent burning the heater element out.
Kindest Regards

As long as the water heater is filled with water before using either gas or electric heating, it can be left on.
Both gas AND electric can be used at the same time for rapid water heat up at times if required, for instance if you want to use the shower as soon as it has already been used by another person, but it is not recommended to use both fuel sources all the time together.
