Went away this weekend and all working fine at the first stop. Got to the second stop to find that the electric water heating
isn't working any more but it's fine on gas? Just got back and checked that mains is getting to the junction box which feeds the element
so looks like the element has gone? Also noticed 2 sensors on the side of the tank near to the electric element. Can these be tested in any way?
Anyone has this before?

did you forget to switch off the water heater when (I assume )you drained down at the last stop? If so you may have tripped the boiler safety cut out when you tried to refill the boiler at the next stop.If so switch off boiler, drain down & then refill, only switching on th boiler when all air is purged from the taps

Also if it's anything like the water heater on my caravan it may have a reset button, mine which is I believe a carver water heater has a button to reset if it overheats which if you know where to look is easy enough to find but isn't obvious so be worth checking.

Had this very same problem myself several years ago, my caravan has the electrical cable connected through a timer which puts the power on for one hour each night to keep the battery charged. Upon my return home from a trip with the caravan the electric switch had been left on by mistake and the heater was turned on each night for one hour ..... no problem if the tank has not been drained but mine of course had been drained for the winter and the continual on / off in an empty tank caused the element to fail. I was told that the element could cope with this on an odd occasion but the regularity on the on / off was the problem. Only cure - a new element!
Hope this helps

Managed to get the element out and tested it, open circuit so had to get a replacement. Dealer said it looked like the original element so
not bad, lasted nearly 10 years!!
