hi guys n gals....

my old caravan used a whale water pump and the end popped straight in the hole on the water hog.

the new caravan has a truma fitting and came with a water pump, went to test it at weekend when we picked it up, to find the end is to big on the truma to fit in the water hog.

question is, can i either get another water hog with a wider hole, or can i get a new truma pump with a thinner end?

i seem to be drawing up blacks trying to find out.

thanks,H

I've not heard of people having any problems with Aquarolls, so they may have bigger holes than Water Hogs.

Note - just looked at their website and found this:

"If your Aquaroll has a cap which measures 58mm in diameter your Aquaroll was manufactured before 1992. Unfortunately we don't manufacture caps for these Aquarolls anymore.

All Aquarolls manufactured after this date feature a 80mm filer cap, which will fit onto the current 29 litre, 40 litre beige, 40 litre silver Aquarolls and all models of the Wastemaster."

i have just measure the end of the pump and its 50mm, i bought my aqua roll 2nd hand, so i dont know its age. so i persume by your finding its a pre 1992.

so in theory, if i get a newer aqua roll it will fit straight in.?

You said yours is a water hog not the aquaroll.
Why not take both the water hog and pump to a dealer and try the pump I a current aquaroll and / or try a new pump In the water hog?

Just measured my Waterhog holes: Internal Diameter 67mm on both . External diameter of cap cross the nodules is 89mm. We have a Truma pump, fits no probs.

If you don't mind having a go, look at a selection of drain pipe fittings on somwhere like Toolstation. You can buy a connection with a screw cap and then enlarge the hole in your Aquaroll to take it, fit with super glue or similar and have a sealable container which will take your pump. Cheaper than changing pump or Aquaroll.

Aquaroll's I believe are manufactured from an ABS or polyethene based thermosetting material. These are traditionally difficult materials to glue, and certainly ethyl cyanoacrylate (super glue) and two part epoxy glues have difficulty mechanically locking to the material, and the super glue is eventually gives up in the presence of water.

Plumbers do use some glues on plastic pipes, I,m not sure what it is, but it relies heavily on teh fact that pipe sleeve joints are mechanically close fitting already.

Better to use a compression gland seal to make any connection to plastic tank.

..............I renew my water containers every 10 years.
I certainly would not be using one likely to be around 25 years old and certainly not one that was second hand.

Each to their own of course.

i dont turn my nose up at second hand things, if its fit for purpose then it will do...no snobbery here!

ANYWAYS...

im all sorted now....thanks for your advice/input.

i just bought (Off ebay SECONDHAND) an aqua roll and wastemaster that had been used only once and is basically brand new. Tried the Truma pump in and fits spot on.

I shall be running my sterile cleaner solution throught the aqua roll (like i always do if its been stood a while) and then i can finally run the water system on the bailey...

again, thanks for your help (great wealth of knowledge on this forum)

There was no snobbery involved on my part.
My thinking was a new Aquarol can be bought for £50.00 and if that lasts for 10 years you would be paying £5.00 per year for a fully hygienic guaranteed product.
You cannot be 100% certain of the history of any second hand item.
I am glad you are now sorted.
