Hi everyone.

Well here is my problem, i would be greatful for some feedback.

We are pretty new to Caravaning and as yet have not got to use the van much at all. You see i work Mon-Fri my Wife works Mon-Fri and our son is in school. We got the van to take the odd weekend away as a well earned break from reality, however when we do finally find a free weekend every site I have found has turned us down. Fully booked etc. Last weekend we decided to try and get away just for one night as that was all we could spare only to be told by 4 of the 5 sites i rang "Yes we have spaces but we dont take 1 night bookings" and the 5th was full!

You see we really cant book in advance because of my job so it seems while some people only use there vans in summer. The only time you will see me out is in the middle of winter when the sites are empty.

Oh well i guess i just wanted a little moan and to see if anyone else suffers the same problem

Kind regards

Rob

What kind of sites are you trying, Rob? Are they Club sites? If you are a member of one or other of the clubs, you could try their CL/CS sites, it's possible they may not be so full or so strict on 1 night bookings. And you then have the option of looking on the club website to check whether there's availability at your chosen site.

Another alternative, albeit possibly an expensive one if you're not able to fully utilise it, is putting the caravan on a seasonal pitch....you can then come and go as you please.

Don't give up, I'm sure you'll find something.

Hi Rob

Don't know what sites or club you are using but I would recommend that you join the Caravan Club above any others, they will take bookings for single nights and even on the website that shows full its always worth a call

Yes, thanks Tom, I forgot to say that (terrible memory! lol). Sometimes Club sites do indeed have spaces even though the website says they're full (they might hold a couple back, or have recently had a cancellation) - we've found this out for ourselves, so it is worth giving the site a ring direct.

Also, the Caravan Club website gives late availability on sites for the coming weekend.

When i worked often friday and saturday night we booked for a week end break.

You soon find the sites that are available, lots of commercial sites out there, rarely did we book because overtime could be available at short notice.

Obviously some sites are booked well in advance.

we had to book for our summer fortnight, but mainly to guarantee the pitch we asked for.
