There I was checking the water in my Aquaroll and a voice said "Lord B I presume". Now I knew ray(c) was going to Slimbridge from a previous post but how he knew it was me I wondered, was it my regal bearing or maybe my aristocratic air, "No" he replied "it was from the photo you posted on the forum".

Slimbridge is a nice site but the pitches are on the small side and close together. There is a large field next door which they use for rallies. With easily 100 vans and tents on site this Easter it left a lot to be desired only having 2 showers. If you didn't want to queue you needed to be there about 5a.m. On the plus side there is a nice pub on site, the Tudor Arms, where Her Ladyship and myself spent a pleasant evening in good company, thank you Ray and Lesley. The couple or more pints of Stowford Press scrumpy went down a treat.

Although we have nevfer been on the site we took a walk around and as you say every one is on top of one another. Big plus the pub. Even had drinking water for our dogs. Great after a walk along the canal. There is also very nice CL at Frampton just down the road.

Ian,

Have you stopped on the CL which you mention?

We are looking for an overnight stop when we travel down to Devon in September.

Tried to persuade Lord Brakewynde to check out a few CL's when he was in the area, but to no avail )

Maureen, I had the privilege of meeting LB, and her ladyship, at Tudor Park at Easter. As he so rightly said the site was full and the facilities were inadequate for the numbers on site.

I did though spend an overnight stop there last year during the Autumn half term holidays, when there were not so many people on site, and there were no problems. I think it would meet your needs for September but expect to pay

Apologies Maureen, I do remember you asking sometime ago about sites but only recall you asking for info on Slimbridge. Did you give me some sites to check out?

We normally stay on a CL near Alingham (Mr JewellPassage Farm) They have toilets there and a washbasin. Nice site We have not stayed on the one in Frampton, but went and had a look. Mr Williams Tanhouse Farm) Highly recommended for an overnight stop or even better a two day stop. It is right on the canal. You can walk down the canal to Slimbridge if you felt energetic. About 2 miles.

The Bell pub in Frampton does some nice meals and the price of drinks is okay but then so does the pub in Arlingham. There is a seafood pub at the end of the road overlooking the River Severn and a meal for two can cost you anything ebtween
