Anthony,

If the yellowing is on a plastics panel, and that panel gets the sun whilst in storage - then it's almost certainly photo-chemical ageing of the plastic.

If it's a painted metal panel, or a panel on the north-facing side of the van - then it's some form of atmospheric pollution - like smoke - but that's hardly likely.

If it is sun-induced fading of the plastic - then you might like to make a careful examination of the surface - and report back. Does the very top layer look chalky? and so on.

But your choices may be: living with it, trying a cutting polish (like T-cut) to remove the microscopic coloured layer, protecting with a good wax, repainting the panel...

Anthony, the yellowing is, unfortunately, a process of light damage to the panel, probably due to not enough stabiliser being added at manufacture.

It is possible to restore it, the level of success is somewhat a case of just seeing how well.

You could try a UPVC restorer which is applied using a polishing machine, then after that treatment, a good quality polish, such as Autoglym, or Mer.

It has been suggested that T Cut also works, much in the same way.

T-cut is not one of the products we have ever found work well. Also the use of a machine mop is not for the faint hearted as you can cause more damage than good. To save yourself the work and hassle and to get the job done correctly, I suggest you find your local bodyshop and ask if they will be willing to machine mop the front panel. This should cost you around £100 and if it's done correctly, you should be left with a front panel that looks as good as the day it was built.
