Two Awnings

I have lightweight porch and 390 awnings.
Going to France in August and was toying with the idea of taking both, and subject to being allowed, erecting both.
The 390 on the normal side and the porch on the other.
My thought would be to use the porch for storage and drying towels and clothes (without it being on display and looking like a Chinese laundry,) thus leaving the main 390 free for social use.
Has anyone done this ?

As you rightly say you would need to get permission beforehand, even better get it in writing, just incase the reception say yes but jobs worth warden, say's no!

I errect both a 3mtr wide awning (on the door side) and a scenic nylon porch awning on the offside of our van when we winter van in jan & feb. I put the porch awning up where the water barrels and waste masters are, to protect them from frost and snow. it works a treat and with the barrels lagged with old ex-charity shop puffa jackets, I rarely get any frozen water.

A porch awning is ideal to use as a shed. Another idea would be to fit a straight piece of awning rail at the rear of the van to fix the awning to. That way you wouldn't encroach into anyone else's pitch.

Hi Mat,
Why not pitch one of them tents that just go up on their own at the side or back of your pitch. They cost abt 28.99 for one. We saw a couple with one in summer last year inside they had all their chairs and odds and ends in it. Sorry can,t remember the tents name but they pitch up with out poles i think.

In France, you pay for the emplacement (pitch), so if you have a caravan and intend to erect 2 awnings, this will not be a problem provided you do not encroach on the adjacent pitch.
Many French campers use their pitch to also put up 'pup' tents, on their 'emplacement'.
The criteria for payment is
Emplacement
Car
No of people
Electricity
Dogs
They do not add on charges for awnings! unlike some sites in the UK.
I cannot see you having any problems doing what you intend.

I’ve done this in France a couple of times with no problems. I store my “bits and pieces” in the porch and usually leave the front off the main awning.
