Tyre change time

I need to change my tyres on the caravan in the spring. They are 6yrs, old hardly worn, but I gather its adviseable they should be changed every 5yrs. I also read somewhere on this site that 6 or 8 ply tyres should be used.
The ones I have on my 'van, since new, are Fulda 195/55/15/85V-the same as on my daughters SEAT Ibiza car. My van laden only weighs 800kg so the weight loading is okay. Do I really need 6 or 8 ply tyres and do I need to go for top of the range tyres when I will only do about 15000 miles in 3 years. Can anyone recommend a good budget tyre?

Forget ply ratings and descriptions like "van" or "commercial" - the Load Index is the modern way of getting the right tyres for the application.
For a 800kg gross weight caravan you need tyres with a load rating of 440kg to give 10% so a tyre with Load Index 80 or more is needed http://www.blackcircles.com/general/load-rating
One question - 195/55 15R is a somewhat strange size for a caravan, especially a lightweight one - are they original from when the caravan was new?

Many thanks.
Yes they are original tyre and wheels. I have had caravan since new.Its a T@B.
The 85 tyres advertised on Blackcircles would do the job as that would give me 1030 kg load bearing
Many thanks again
