Tyre pressure advice needed.

I am trying to work out what pressure to run the van tyres at. If the van weighs 1550Kg measured unhitched on a weighbridge, and the noseweight is 80Kg, then the load on each wheel is 735Kg ((1550-80)/2). If the tyre says Max pressure 66psi @ Max Load 900Kg then should I be running at 735/900x66 = 54psi? This seems logical to me, but is it correct?

Both clubs have data bases. If you hone their technical help line they may be able to tell you if you give them the model etc. (You have to be a member.)

This is a formula I came across some time ago

Caravan weight (kg) X max tyre pressure (psi) / Max tyre load (kg) X number of wheels (2 or 4) = tyre pressure in psi.

That ties in with my method, except that I have removed the nosewieght first as it is not being carried by the wheels.

I don't suppose that the difference of a couple of psi would even be noticed by the average gauge!
