Just curious, got a new van and note that the tyre pressure is 62 psi. My previous van just approx. 150 kilo lighter required a pressure of 42 psi. Why do we have the difference, is it tyre type or what?

Had this when we bought our Pegasus and was told by Bailey that it's to do with the N.C.C.,s ruling on maximum load carrying capacities with tyres.
I take it they mean if they're set up at or near maximum pressure they'll handle the van weight no problem.
On checking with the dealer they advised just taking the tyres to the pressure recommended on the plate on the caravan, which we now do.
If I remember rightly ours were supposed to be 62 p.s.i. but the side plate said 52 p.s.i.

Just in case you wonder we've had no problems going to side plate pressures and they're right for the vans max anyway.
I think it's a case of belts and braces.
