The Volvo XC60 received worthy praise in the PC mags Towcar Awards. So, as we are considering a heavier van we went to take a look at the local dealer. Very smart except as dog owners, not that there is realy enough room for our two dogs due to cut off back unlike the V70,why do they insist on carpeting the luggage area and the inside of the back door. Estate cars and particularly 4x4's need to be practical not plush! Also the rear seat bases are very short - unusual for Volvo.

you do know you're not supposed to use your 4x4 or estate for actaully putting grubby items in the back.

They're meant for the gucci , prada and harvey nicks bags!!!

Joking aside , you are spot on david.

I got so fed up of hoovering dog hairs out the boot every sunday night that I got a complete boot liner from Hatchbag. I just sweep it out now and wipe it down , job done in a few minutes.

(Need to keep the boot clean as I have to put

The XC is a nice looking car, but I don't understand why Volvo are still solely using the 2.4 diesel engine. Audi and BMW offer far better 3 litre diesel options in similar sized car.

We're now seeing quite a few Q5's and nearly every one has been a 3.0D. and the ones I've seen towing have all been 3.0D's

The Q5 seems only to offer manual 2.0D if, like me, you want an auto box them its the 3.0D and the more immissions, RFL and less MPG. But its still a little to refined for the dogs in the back!

Audi seem to be leading the way in diesel emmissions, the new 3.0 v6 diesel going into the Q7 later in the year is only 165 Co2,im sure this engine will filter into other models.

Mercedes Bluetec 3.0 diesel is only 189 Co2 so will at least half your road tax bill.
