Stayed here for last 5 days because of my aunt's funeral.

A very interesting site. Excellent wardens and full of wildlife. I understand there are only 18 touring pitches the rest being taken up by storage and semi permanent pitches. Facilities , excellent.

Now it is right next to Gatwick's main runway, as advertised.

So I took the opportunity of becoming a real anorak and doing a bit of plane spotting. Breathtaking it

was until a fully ARMED police officer from the sussex police force approached me. He was built like Arny Schwarznegger (?) and his pistol did not look tame , never mind the fold up truncheon on his side.

Ok , he was very decent and just doing his job in the light of all the terrorist attacks we have suffered in recent years. No parking offence but a full identity check etc. What a shame those terrorists have now reduced our police force to checking every innocent plane spotter.

Shocked as I was . I have to welcome it but it does show what fear some quarters of the UK have to live in??

Ok , park the car elsewhere and you are welcome to stand directly beneath the flight path.

Cheers

Alan

Some airfields, civil and military, have specified viewing areas and no stopping/no waiting restrictions on all other roads in the area.

I agree it's fascinating watching the planes alan but I'm afraid your advice is a bit of a health hazard

"Ok , park the car elsewhere and you are welcome to stand directly beneath the flight path".

By being directly underneath you take the risk of the toilet chain being flushed and you getting a mouth full.
