Was it something we said?

I see that big changes in PC management have been announced in the September issue.

Haven't seen any comment elsewhere, so I'll just say thank you to you all for your contributions to the mag, and good luck for the future.

And if you've finished with the car, can I have it?

I've just read the editoral this month (after seeing this post) - and it's a right old clean out - Alex, Adele and jennifer all moving on.

I'm surprise so little has been said on here - as there have been a few comments made of late over the Magazine.

I can only say that whilst the magazine - has had some odd moments recently (that screwdriver review - still makes me wince) I can only say Alex had great taste (yes she published a letter of mine), but to all of them a hearty good luck in the future - keep on vanning and see you on site soon.

I think it was time for a change as the passion for caravanning was sadly missing from their articles .The reviews of vans lacked substance ,very seldom was a criticism voiced ,location reviews really just a string of "us on another freebie jolly with lots of pictures of us eating"

and as for products ,well, sink drainers, screwdrivers and a bike rack that can only be used without the caravan! Need I say more. This month we are given a review on a disposable cardboard dish to pee in with 10 to give away ..whoopee!!!

But I think Alex admitting that the carpet in her (loaned) van got absolutely filthy because she was "too lazy " to take her boots off sums up for me the attitude of the team.

Good luck to all of them in their new careers and may the new team bring with them that passion for caravanning shared by so many of us on this Forum

How do they choose the families who test the vans?

My kids would give any van a good site test!!

I am puzzled with 2 of the 5 staff driving the same towcar Matt Clark and Jennifer Stuart-Smith using an identical Kia Sorento, why can't at least one of them drive a 3 or 4 year old Vectra or Mondeo and tow a van over the 85% match up to see how it performs?

The layout of the mag is still the winner having been a perennial hanger on at WH Smiths reading them all before taking my subscription, the decision to appoint the New Editor from What Car? magazine does baffle me too, the purist car driver dislikes the caravanner since apparently we hinder their progress so he will come with undoubted opinions/stereotypes.

It's not just "an identical car" - it's THE identical car (look at the number). PC obviously can't afford to buy too many cars!

With regard to the "testers" I wrote and asked about how they were chosen and was told that if I wrote in with approximately 500 words about about myself and caravanning I could be considered as a tester. I didn't do it though.

Brian, I do know from talking to the people who test the caravans for the magazines that the reason why they lack substance and any criticism, is not because they do not give it but because it disappears from the final drafts that are published.

I also know this annoys the tester but other than not doing the testing they have very little say in what is actually printed.

I also know this happens with articles and products. The bigger the company the bigger the stick they have! It`s life.....

I agree completely Brian - especially the dirty carpet part! If ever something sums someone up as having a job in journalism on the magagzine for a couple of years until the next career move - that was it! We started reading PC when it was without doubt the best of the bunch - it still is, but the gap is smaller now. Here's hoping the new intake have some passion and drive - and last longer than a couple of years.
