Waste water in Shower!!

When I empty the contents of the sink on my new Bailey Ranger GTO some of the water trickles through the drain hole in the shower.

I have ensured that the wastemaster is empty but the problem still persists. The only way to prevent it happending seems to be to pour the contents of the bowl away bit by bit. Any ideas or tips would be appreciated.

PS I know the obvious thing to do is to take it back to the dealer but this involves a 100 mile trip and time off work

If you are confident enough to do it yourself I would make the shower drain independent of the rest of the water drainage, its a simple enough job. From personal experience of flagging up obvious issues, Bailey won't put it right on future models for about 2 years when it eventually filters through the their system.

Shower and sink drains are normally separate in my experience and lead to 2 drainage points on the side of the caravan. The only time I've had the same problem has been because I've used a "Y" piece to join the waste pipes and the bend into the waste has been too shallow. Water then flowed out of the kitchen sink hose into the shower hose. As we rarely use the shower, I now don't put a waste pipe on that outlet. If that's your problem, I doubt the dealer would want to know! If the wastes are joined in the original 'van pipework, then it isn't fit for purpose and you really should get the dealer to sort it out.An email to Bailey Customer service might bring some results.

The best thing is to look underneath the van and see what layout you have.

Also check on what size pipe you have as there are 2 different sizes.

No all vans have seperate pipes and i would expect the lower range models only have the 1 pipe to save money.

I had similar problem as johh.

I use 1 'y' and 2 90deg connectors from B&Q joined together with short length of wastte pipe tubing. I'd set up them up slightly wrong with the connecting sections too long. The wastemaster was a bit higher than the shower outlet connection and when the waste was nearly full it caused water to backflow down the shower pipe.

A really cheap and easy way out of this problem is when the shower is not in use put a plug in the outlet.

Also a good idea when parked up for any lentgh of time keep out creepy crawlies

My 2004 bailey has a separate pipe for the shower, and a common for both sinks.

Short of taking the advise above, is it possible to slope the van slightly when you set up, so the water from the sink is trying to flow up hill to the shower?

We always slope the van off level slightly, to aid the shower draining.

If set-up on a hill, make sure the waste master is lower than the waste outlet ;-)
