Water pressure

So after first time away got some more questions.
Filled up the water tank turned the pump on switch panel.undid one tap at a time to get any air out ,all.any tips for cleaning tips for the system?
Did the same with the shower.
Water heater warms up the water at sink pretty good.
Do you have to turn on the heater pre using ?
Its a cascade model.
Now cleaned out the shower descaled.spray pattern all good.

Problem ive got is once the shower is put in the up position it reduces to a trickle.

Is it something to do with the water pump /pressure switch.

I found the pressure switch .by dialling it down the pressure drops off gather that restricts the flow.
When dialling it out pressure increases but lose heat but shower doesn't improve.
Can anyone tell me its a whale pump and pressure valve what the std or pump rating should be.?

The shower hose actually contains a rubber tube which may have got twisted. Disconnect it at both ends and give it a good shake, make sure you can blow through it easily, then put it back and see what happens. NOTE - don't loose the rubber washers in the ends of the hose!

Initial bleeding sounds correct. Start with furthest tap turned to hot until it runs smoothly, then the other taps. Then do the same for the cold side. When the water runs smoothly at all outlets switch on the water heater. It will take a while to heat up as it is not an instantaneous through flow heater.
There is a printable page on the Whale site regarding adjusting the pressure control - I carry a laminated copy as occasionally further adjustment is needed.

Also worth regularly unclogging the tap end filters taking careful note of how the bits fit together.

The Cascades are all storage water heaters. The standard capacity is 9L (2 gallons) and they use a 1.2kW gas burner and GE and Rapide models have a mains electric heating in addition to the gas burner.

Typically it takes up to 25min to heat a full tank from 10C to 65C, This is usually enough hot water for two quick showers becasue the hot water needs to be mixed with cold water at the shower.

During one sustained shower, you may use more hot water, and as such you may need to leave enough time for the heater to reheat its content.

The Cascade models of heater ceased production in 2000, so yours will be at least 22years old. It would be wise to have all the gas appliances of that age properly checked for continued correct function and safety.

With submersible pumps, these are so called centrifugal rotodynamic devices, the flow achieved changes with the pressure they run at.
Therefore, when raising the shower head it requires the pump to lift the water that much higher pressure, the amount that you lifted it, with a resulting drop in the achieved flow.
Positive displacement pumps that feature in some onboard pump systems are relatively immune from this issue.
Higher "head" submersible pumps can mitigate this failing to some extent, but watch the physical size if changing as it has to fit into the neck of the Aquaroll or other water container you use.
