Hi

We have a Bailey Ranger and its fitted with a Truma?crystal Maxi MK 2 fitting. The problem we are getting is the pump stops working if i go out and just touch the connector which plugs into the side of th caravan it starts working again. This has made me think its a bad contact at this point. I have looked at both the plug an socket to see if the wires are connected correctly they are. I have also opened the contacts on the plug from the pump with a screwdriver so it makes a tighter fit. But still the problem comes back.

Has anybody else had his problem and what is the cure.

Had similar problems a while ago.Turned out to be just age related. Our van is approx 10 years old.

We were getting poor connections then eventually we started losing water from the inlet area and air was entering the system from a tiny crack in the inlet pipe behind the filter.

We have had a new filter housing fitted and it works a treat.

Ours is the same as yours Crystal mk2 and these are becoming very hard to findn(obsolete)

If you cant get hold of one you can fit a Truma ultraflow housing which i believe is the same size

Good luck Geoff

Hi there

Many thanks for your replys. My Bailey Ranger 460/4 will be 2 year old from new on 22nd of this month. I will have to go to my local dealer and see what type of connector Bailey are now fitting on there caravans.

Regards Steve & Janet.

I have just replaced my Crystal MK2 housing with the Truma Ultraflow Conversion kit but also had to buy a non return valve as the new housing does not have one fitted as in the rear of the Crystal housing. Included in the conversion kit is a pistol grip type connector to replace the fitting on the supply pipe. All in all a simple worthwhile upgrade just be sure to correctly seal the new housing

Hi Stephen.

Try rubbing some vinager onto the contacts with a cotton bud. Leave it for 30 mins and then wipe it off with a dry bud. The acid affect of the vinager will clean the contacts.

This should work. I also put a dab of vaseline on the contacts to help with waterproofing.

Hi Steve in Leo

I did as you said rubbed vinager with cotton bud round the contacts. The cotten bud are just the thing to get right into the contacts with that white plastic shielding nothing i had done could get write down deep into the plug and socket. The contacts have come up nice and clean and bright and the problem seem to have gone away works every time now. Thank you very much i had run out of ideas.

Kind regards Steve & Janet.
