Water Pump not switching off

I have finally got round to testing the water system in my Fleetwood Garland caravan

The problem is that the pump doesn't switch off. The only way is to disconnect the spade terminal that go out to the filter.

The tap micro switches seem to work ok (no water when off and water flows when turned on). The previous owner has disconnected the shower but looks like he has disconnected and left the 'connection' open but terminating the ends n separate ternimal blocks.

When plugged in it pumps water into the hot water cylinder but then keeps going when it is full.
Is there another float switch or something the the water tank? How do I get to it? Any help or advice welcome.

From what you describe it sounds as if you have a pressure system and not a microswitch system, even though the taps may have microswitches.
There is no level cut out in the water heater.
Look under the bed box where the water inlet comes in, if you find a white oblong unit with a wheel on the top fitted into the water pipe, this is a pressure switch which needs adjusting by turning the wheel on the top.

Turning it clockwise increases the pressure needed to switch off, anticlockwise reduces the pressure.

You need to set it to switch off immediately the cold water tap is closed, and after about 4 seconds after the hot tap is closed.
The switch is voltage sensitive so when your battery voltage drops you may need to re set it slightly.

mmm.... I tried looking for a switch but can't find anything. It is a Carver MKII unit. Should there be a switch to turn the pump on/off or is it automatic?

What should the trigger be for it to work? I ask this because as soon as I switch on the 'electric's to the caravan the pump starts straight away (water or no water). This is why I have to disconnect the spade plugs to the pump/water barrel.

Any other suggestions? Maybe something simple........

Thanks

I know I might be talking a complete load of rubbish and it most probably is not relevant to your problem however I felt I should make the following comment
I never had any problems with my water system until I wanted to fill the water tank after the winter break it filled up the tank but the pump kept running and would not stop

After a few curses and bitten lips I found that I had put the pump unit away in a box wher I keep my water connects for it to fit in the box I had folded it so when it was submersed in the aquarol tank it was half in the water and half out so after filling the tank it was virtually not submerged even though the aquaroll was two thirds full which meant the pump was running continously.
Once I realised I pushed it down into the water problem solved and it works fine.

I do not know what system is fitted to your van if you cannot find a pressure switch it must be a faulty micro switch on one of the taps .

Thanks for all your advice. I finally checked it out completely. 2 issues......

Firstly on a 6 way connector block to the pump the pump was directly connected to the 12v supply, hence it was permanently running.

Secondly the previous owner had wired the 2 leads from the cold water microswitch to the 'Positive' and the 2 leads from the hot water tap to the 'negative'. He obviously didn't have a very goo grasp of electic circuits.

All is wired correctly now and is fully working.

Thank you
