Hi Guys and Girls.

I'm very new to camping, actually I have just bought a van and I'm looking at going away the weekend.

My van has a carver gas water heater and an external pump that you drop into a water container. I've tested it all and everything seems to be working ok but the pressure and flow isn't the best. Can anyone suggest a better pump? Are pumps easy to replace, would I need a new pressure switch etc. Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

Phil

HI! Phil it may just be a bit dirt in your filter, make sure the pump is not getting air in anywhere .You say that there is not a lot of pressure or flow isn,t the best . remember that these pumps are nowhere near as fast as your house water mains .( maybe a gallon every 2/3 minutes) replacement pumps can be bought from most caravan shops .not cheep around

Philip,

Drop in the barrel pumps do not provide much pressure.

Check to see if there is a filter in the system which may be blocked.

If you want more pressure then you will have to fit an onboard pump which will cost a fair bit.

Our previous caravan had a pressure switch inside the van which you could turn to alter the water pressure delivered by the pump. That was a 1994 Sterling Europa - and the switch was inside the front locker. If yours is an older van it may have something similar. Once we'd set it I don't think we ever had to alter it again, but before doing it our water pressure was very low.

Thanks for the replies. The problem turned out to be the battery, it wasn't holding charge which made the pump run slower.

Thanks again
