waterworks trouble

We have a Bailey Ranger 460/2 approx 10 years old.It has recentley developed a fault with the water system.

It sounded as though air was entering the system at the inlet area then it started to pulse or surge quite violently for the first 10 seconds or so before settling down but this has damaged one of the taps leaving it sitting proud of the tap body.

The pump is brand new as is the filter.

Could this be just the surge damper?

Any ideas would be gratefully received

we had a similar problem last year, turned out to be the inlet pipe (behind the filter ) had been damaged and was letting air in. we only found out when it failed and flooded the inside of the van.

thanks for that Ian,that must have been a shock for you .

Looks like I,ve been lucky to get away with a broken tap!.

Was your water supply coughing and spluttering before calming down?

Cheers Geoff

yes it was coughing and spluttering and we also had water coming back out of the pump connector.tis happened for a few outings until on the fateful day we connected the pump and swithched on and we could hear the pump pumping and water running but nothing was coming out of the tap !! checked all connections and tried again, nothing ! looked under seat to find a small lake around the water heater etc. thankfully we were on northam farm an somerset who have a spares/workshop etc and i was able to replace the inlet unit with the help of a vvvv nice engineer all for the cost of a new unit (
