West Bay........ahhh......memories are flooding back again
When i was younger(about 13)my parents always took me to West Bay.
This was before the site was taken over by Haven and we used to stay in the same static caravan every year for about 8 years.
I used to go down to the entrance of the site and on the left were some rowing boats for hire(across the bridge from the main harbour).
The old guy who owned them was called Doug and I used to help him clean them and make sure they were ready for hire to customers.
At the entrance to the campsite were a couple of small shops selling dairy products etc..
I also spent many a happy hour out on the end of the pier fishing for mackerel with my dad until after dark.
There also used to be a funfair across the little footbridge where the cafe was and spent many a happy hour watching the rides go round.
There wasnt a lot to spend your money on in West Bay in those days(I think thats why mum and dad used to take me there..ha ha)
Although the two beaches either side of the pier are not child friendly(very steep) it was great to sit and throw pebbles into the sea and climb the steep hill to the left.
Ahhh....fond memories
