I want to fit a new Whale inline water filter (the servicing dealer didn't have one in stock and said order time is 4 weeks!). Am I correct in thinking it is a simple pull apart and push fit system?

A link to a rather longwinded video clip that didn't actually show the unclipping...So...
You might find another pair of hands useful, push the final collar of the black connection towards the centre of the black fitting, this should enable the filter to pulled straight out of the collar. Be prepared for some water spillage from the cartridge. The replacement - just replicate the colour (green or blue as in the video are different diameters) - should be a push to click fitting to make a water-tight reconnection.
Actually some people replace the filter with a length of water pipe of the correct diameter and rely on good old 'severn-trent' straight from the barrel! (Nothing to beat 'Peckham Spring Water' Rodney!)

I do not understand why people still fit water filters, they are expensive, short lived as you have to change them every 30 days or so and actually do nothing to purify the already good water we have in the normal water supplies in this country and most of Europe.

Remove the old one, and fit a piece of the same pipe as in the van .
