Hi folks

I hope somone can assist, I am having problems setting up my Whale water pump. I have got it to turn on when opening the taps but on closing it wont turn of. I have tried adjusting the screw inside the van that adjusts the sensitivity but all this does is get the pump switching on and off rapidly.

Can anyone advise please

If you cannot find the optimum setting on the pressure switch, you have either a water leak or air being drawn in at the pump connection.

Make sure the pump connection is in good condition, th eO rings are in place and there are no splits in the inlet.

Fill the system with water, and when no more air comes out of the taps, shut all the taps.

Allow about 4 to 5 seconds for the pressure to build up, then adjust the pressure switch to stop the pump.

Open the cold tap, pump should run, shut cold, pump should stop.

Open hot, pump runs, shut hot pump runs on fir a few seconds an stops.

If this does not happen, check everywhere for leaks or drain valves not being closed, or if you have an Ultrastore water heater, look and see if wate ris being pumped out of the clear tube attched to the hot water outlet(the top water connector).

Failing that, the pressure switch may have something in it stopping it working correctly.

Many thanks,

I'll check for leaks and if none do you know if it is possible to home repair the pressure switch?

Cheers

If you can't find a leak (and you should find it if the pump is no cutting out) then as damian says, air must be entering the system, however, in the external socket where you plug the pump into, there is a diaphram, which if "gummed up" or damaged can cause all sort of problems--it is easily removed from outside the van, and any accessory shop will have seal kit. If you do remove it be aware that behind the front plate there is a spring and retainer. Why not give Munster Simms a call and speak to there technical lad (aiden)----they will probably send you a completely new socket---there very good at that sort of thing---hope this helps
