Thanks

between where the water comes in the van and the pump blue pipe, fit it upright.

Hi,

Sorry to disagree, but a surge damper should be fitted to the high pressure (output) side of the on-board pump, not the inlet and pump (low pressure side).

It should be fitted before the "T" off to the boiler, and depending on the size of the Compass pump and available connections, can be connected directly to the output of the pump.

Thanks,

Ash

Yes of course sorry Ash, just a thought Ash would it not be better after the T on the cold water side as the boiler is acting has a surge flow damper? hope that makes sence

Hello Trevor,

The surge damper will not make the pump run any quieter. All it does it to equalise the pressure in the hot and cold systems so that it should reduce the hot surges you can get with a pressurised water system.

It might make the pump run less frequently and it might run slightly longer whilst it repressureises the damper and hot tank but quieter no!

Ther surge damper does stop pulsating water flow when a tap is opened only a small amount

Hi Le Croc,

It is possible to fit it after the "T" between the cold pipes and boiler, however, the water pressure delivered by the pump would then be split, and a reduced pressure would delivered to the damper, which is just a storage vessel, without any control over the stored pressure.

Putting an accumulator (with an adjustable pressure valve) after the "T" would probably work?

Ash
