What a "Bailey" nuisance!!!!!

We bought our 2nd Bailey in December 2007, a Senator Wyoming from Outdoor Experience in Devon & in November 2009 they found evidence of water ingress. They did a temporary seal for us, told us to keep an eye on it & off we went to Spain for the winter. It rained in Spain last winter! & the water came pouring into the bathroom. We delivered the caravan to Outdoor Experience on March 22nd & were told that we would need new panels. We were able to collect the caravan from them last Tuesday 13th July!! What a summer we have had! We were told by Bailey that they stand by their 6 year warranty but nowhere is it written that the work has to completed within any time constraints. While Outdoor Experience were waiting for the parts they did another temporary seal but forgot to tell us until I made a routine progress report call in mid May & the service manager told us that if we didnt collect the caravan they would be charging us for storage. A letter of complaint to the managing director unfortunately didnt generate an immediate response from him but when we collected the caravan last week there was no mention of storage charges!

Needless to say we wont be buying another Bailey & feel unable to recommend them & we wont be going back to Outdoor Experience to buy another caravan.

Still we have our caravan back & no doubt the rest of our British summer will give us ample opportunity to test the work carried out if last weeks rain is anything to go by!

Anybody else had a similar "bad experience"

The etiquette of the forum is that we don;'t complain about specific dealers etc so I won't mention any names in telling my experience. Dealer was excellent- known as Cosford caravans. I had so many problems with the caravan that it went to the dealers on average every 6 weeks for three years. Eventually with warranty running out I still had a fault that my dealer could not resolve- he tried many times. Eventually I wrote to the directors of the caravan manufacturer and the component manufacturer telling them that if they did not remedy the fault I would sue my dealer- Sales of Goods Act. The caravan maker arranged for the component maker to reinstall the equipment. Problem solved! My next van was a COachman- what a difference! Two minor faults fixed instantly.
