hi

has anyone owned a 1999 award northstar. if so. or does anyone know about any problem areas to deal with,

their seems to be a leak in the wardrobe, at rear. and at the front of the van front right, just looks about where the front rail and side rails meet.

weve had a few vans but the reason we went for this was it has all wood panelling and no vinyl, we thought it was classy

also theirs an old fashioned roof on these with a long plastic cover covering joints,

also the full back panel is plastic and joins to the aluminium piece really poorly

please help.

are these good vans or bad

Hi Ian

we have owned an Ace and it was the best van we have ever owned. My Wife loved the cosy interior and the wood panelling instead of the normal vinyl walls and although the van was heavy it was a joy to be in.

The only thing that would need checking is the roof, as you mentioned the seal down the middle can sometimes be a problem.

We found no problems with our roof though and we actually found it to be really useful because it gives more headroom inside and because it is sloping it means water doesnt gather on it causing it to go green because it just ran straight off.

We have just bought a 2001 Challenger 500 because the interior is so similar to the Awards (it has the wood panelling and quality cabinets).

I would say go for it, 1999 was there best era and a bit of damp in the cupboard is nothing to worry about as long as you sort it, our challenger has just had the awning rails and rear spoiler resealed as this leaked so all vans suffer from damp at some point !

Hope this helps

Ian
