I thought maybe I had got it wrong, so got the bible out, and BS7671:2008 clearly give minimum size for the BS AU 177a sockets on pins 3, 4, 6, and 7 as 2.5 mm² I have looked for both 7 core and 5 core but can only find cable for the BS AU 149a socket which only needs 2.5 mm² for pin 3 the return pin, all other pins at 1.5 mm².
Caravan is at least 2.5 mm² I have not actually tried a blue crimp on the cores, but I have worked with cable long enough to know difference between 1.5 and 2.5 mm².
To be frank only really need 2.5 mm² for two cores, 3 and 4 as only those pins take over 8A or are important volt drop wise, not sure if 4 mm² will fit socket terminals? But if it will I would prefer 4 mm² to reduce volt drop, and be able to take charging current plus lights which could exceed 30 amp.
I know cable is made Batt Cables list part number 37623 as 2.5 mm² and 37794 as 4 mm² both 5 core, they also do 7 core but we don't need 7 core cable for the BS AU 177a socket as 2 pins are unused.
But where can I buy just 2 meters?
