A 50 something and his good lady wife are about to take a year out from work and go see some of the world. Our intention is to spend at least 6 months in a Motorhome (yet to be purchased) touring the UK & Europe. Any suggestions on motorhomes and or routes to be taken, etc?

Our requirement, we think!! is for a 2 berth, preferrably with all mod cons but at this stage we are complete novices and therefore all help/advice would be greatly appleciated

Pax.

How wonderful. Don't have much advice but if I was spending 6 months in a motorhome my priorities would be comfy bed and a decent toilet. Think about the sorts of sites you will be staying on. If you are using basic sites or CLs without good shower blocks, then a decent wash room would be a priority. Will you be moving from site to site frequently or staying put for a couple of weeks at a time. If it is the latter you may want an alternative means of transport such as bikes to save having to decamp the van constantly. If you don't get many replies here try reposting in general section. Have a fab time.

Hi Mel, we are planning to move around and I am sure the 6 months will include some trips back to home base or the occasional hotel night. However as this is all in the early stages of planning we really are just not sure how best to take on such a trip!!!

I do agree with your comments on bed etc, and will take all of those on board.

Cheers,

Brian

friends of ours have been doing it for 3 years now with their houses let out. They have an arto a class and use the over cab bed so that they have all the living space. It's trial and error but make sure everything is working before heading out of the country. There unit is smaller in length than our 6 berth caravan but that is ideal for them to drive all the time. They are having a whale of a time. Of course when they head off out of europe (australia usa etc) they leave the dog with us.
